Job description :
Our client an established transportation carrier in Canada is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst that will work 3 days a week in the Mississauga office, reporting directly to the Director of Finance. This role will support and coordinate the forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis functions and provide valuable insights to senior management on financial and operating performance and trends.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare weekly and monthly forecasts; identify change from actual results, prior periods and budget, and provide detailed and insightful commentary to support variances.
- Collaborate with department leaders to understand key business drivers and develop financial models to forecast revenues, expenses and operating metrics.
- Support the development and analysis of the annual financial and operating budget.
- Manage TCG costing and profitability model and monthly terminal P&L reporting.
- Complete financial and operational analysis and monthly business reporting (MBR) packages.
- Prepare PowerPoint slide decks for monthly senior management meetings.
- Assist with the month-end closing process, including preparing and posting journal vouchers and preparing and reviewing financial statements.
- Assist with the completion of balance sheet account analysis and bank account reconciliations.
- Streamline current business processes by recommending improvements and implementing process automation.
- Complete additional ad-hoc duties as required.
Skills and qualifications :
- University degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, including: experience in forecasting and budget development, demonstrated experience in financial modelling.
- Proven ability to summarize large amounts of complex financial stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
